The Most Common elbow and wrist pain
Elbow and wrist pain are common problems, particularly in people who perform repetitive gripping, lifting, typing, or manual work.
Tendon-related injuries are among the most common causes of elbow pain, especially in active individuals and workers who use their hands frequently.
The majority of elbow and wrist complaints we see clinically involve tendon overload and repetitive strain injuries.
Tendon Overload (Tennis Elbow & Golfer’s Elbow)
Tendons attach muscles to bone and are responsible for transmitting force during movement. When repeatedly overloaded, they can become irritated and painful.
Common conditions include:
-
Tennis elbow (lateral elbow pain)
-
Golfer’s elbow (medial elbow pain)
-
Wrist extensor or flexor tendon strain
Typical symptoms:
-
Pain around the elbow, often worse with gripping or lifting
-
Pain when using tools, typing, or lifting objects
-
Reduced grip strength
-
Pain that builds gradually over time
Tendon overload is commonly linked to repetitive gripping, lifting, manual work, gym training, or sudden increases in activity.
Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)
Repetitive strain injuries occur when the wrist and forearm are exposed to repeated movements without adequate recovery.
Typical symptoms:
-
Pain or stiffness in the wrist or forearm
-
Weakness with gripping
-
Discomfort during typing or repetitive hand use
-
Tightness through the forearm muscles
These injuries are often associated with computer work, repetitive tasks, sports, or prolonged hand use.
